Daniella (Yella) Cargen is a 23 year old illustrator and painter born and raised in New York. Yella is greatly inspired by nature, people, and her surroundings, which is always apparent in her fantasy world artwork.

Typically working digitally in Procreate or traditionally with gouache or mixed media, Yella is inclined to use vibrant color palettes and has developed a style that is swirly and soft with every brushstroke. Limited color palettes and calm subject matter imply control and structure in her paintings, though there is always a strange element in every piece that adds to the storytelling in each piece.

As an illustrator, Yella currently works freelance and aspires to be a children’s book illustrator or work within children’s illustration production. With a BFA in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Yella has learned the fundamentals of the illustration industry and how to use industry-standard tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
